Adaððus Atenosîloi (rite of the returning seeds/descendants)

These are dark times that surround us, and no matter how hard we try to imagine living in a world where madness does not happen, it does and is hard to accept at times. We in Galatîs Litauiâs want to try to do our part in illuminating the world around us. We want to present to you, unfortunately, a Community-Wide Rite for the innocent lives that are taken from us too soon in school shootings.

We want to do what we can to help the souls lost to us too soon, protect those in the schools, and help heal the loved ones and those affected that have to live with the aftermath of these cruel acts.

This Rite is meant to be performed at a set time and day whenever we have to face the reality of these hateful acts happening.

We will invoke:
Ðironâ for healing
Sucellos for Boundaries
Nantosueltâ for the guidance of the souls
Materês for protection

The Rite

Glanosâgon (Purification)
Wash hands and say: Glanolamâs “Clean hands”
Swipe your forehead and say:  Glanobritus “Clean mind”
Swipe down the face with both hands and say: Glananation “Clean soul” (This is based on the idea of the soul residing in the head.)

Making a Sacred Space

One should purify the sacred space. To do this, designate a candle to be the Caddodagilâ (Sacred Candle). Nemetonâ will be invoked for purification. This is vital either to establish your space or to make a new one.

Take as many Acorns for the youths we have lost to represent the wisdom and innocents as they were lost to us before they have gotten to sprout their love and wisdom to us. (if one can’t find acorns, then any seeds will do). Take as many branches from the oak to represent the adults/teachers lost as they are the branches of wisdom and knowledge. Bury the acorns and branches and pour water on them, or take them to a river or stream and place them in the water (as you do this, say the names of the individuals lost, that being the names of the students and the teachers involved. Oaks are associated with wisdom and knowledge. The children were little oak trees in the making, being helped by grown trees to grow. We are helping aid them into the underworld.

Now during the times, we must do these rites, we will post a date and time for all to participate, following with information on ways one can help. As these Rites are not meant for us to join together in a Zoom call or anything like that, This is meant for you to be in the comfort of solidarity knowing that as you do the Rite others are doing it with you all around the world. A community-wide rite for us to participate in the remembering and honoring of those acorns and branches.
